Volunteer and help restore Fanno Creek Natural Area by planting native species and improving habitat!

Project details:
Join Portland Parks & Recreation and Westside Watershed Resource Center for a morning of planting at this Portland Parks & Recreation natural area that Fanno Creek runs through on its way to the Tualatin River. We will be planting native plant species where we previously removed ivy. This is a great way to connect with nature and make a difference.
We will be working on uneven ground so please wear closed toed, sturdy shoes and weather appropriate clothing. Tools, gloves, instruction, and refreshments will be provided.

Meeting location: SW 39th Dr. and SW 38th Pl., Portland, OR 97221
Parking and public transit: This site is accessible via Beaverton-Hillsdale Highway (OR-10). Street parking is available on SW 39th Dr., near the intersection of SW 38th Pl. Public transit: #54 and #56 both service SW 39th Ave and Beaverton-Hillsdale Highway. From SW 39th and Beaverton- Hillsdale Highway, walk north .1 miles up SW 39th Ave to SW 38th Pl. Site will be located on the west side of SW 39th Ave.
Children 10+ are welcome, if accompanied by an attentive adult. Youth 16+ may attend independently with parent permission. Please note that the short path to where we will be working is a little steep.
Accessibility: This event will require bending over and walking on uneven surfaces. Please note: there is a short, steep, and narrow section of the trail to get to the site.

Meeting location: Behind Hayhurst Elementary, at the west end of SW Pendleton St near the intersection of SW Pendleton and SW 48th Ave
Project details:
Be part of an effort to enhance the health of Pendleton Creek and its surrounding wetland! We’ll focus on removing invasive English ivy from the wetland area behind Hayhurst Elementary. Tasks may also include planting native plants and adding wood chips to a portion of the trail there. This restoration work will help native plants thrive, improve wildlife habitat, support a healthier watershed, and build community!
Registration is required.
